When you're feeling anxious...

Yesterday I came across something neat that I thought you might enjoy. It is a mantra from “The Places that Scare You” by Pema Chodron. I am going to try to implant it into to my memory so that I can recall it during difficult/stressful moments.

"The Three-Step Aspiration"

May I enjoy happiness and the root of happiness.
May you enjoy happiness and the root of happiness.
May all beings enjoy happiness and the root of happiness.

It is definitely quite Buddhist. I like it very much. Do you use any particular sayings, poems, or spiritual verses to calm your spirit during challenges?

Here are a few pictures from this afternoon.

  1. Here is one that I use:

    Eternal God,
    lead me now
    out of the familiar setting
    of my doubts and fears,
    beyond my pride
and my need to be secure
into a strange and graceful ease
    with my true proportions and with yours;
    that in boundless silence
    i may grow
    strong enough to endure
and flexible enough to share your grace.
