How about that! Busy bees are busy.

(Check it out! Center Stage: Mr. Busy Bee himself)

Have you ever heard someone use the expression "busy bee"? For example, "That Aunt Arlene! She is such a busy bee." Well guess what, that expression is based on reality! Bees are so busy. Yesterday as I was stuck inside working for hours upon hours on a project, I found myself longing to journey outside and enjoy the most perfect Chicago afternoon. So I took a 10-minute study break and absorbed some vitamin D. It was during this walk that I encountered the very busy nature of bees. I guess I'm usually too scared of them to notice how quick they are! Of course, I was still a bit to scared to get close enough to take a good bee picture. I'll work on it.

I did a little research this morning: It turns out that, of course, bees are amazing! Where have I been? Bees are not just busy hanging out in the sun, burning calories. They are pollinating and being fantastic. Here's a good bee link: NOVA Online. Below are some other pictures from Friday afternoon. Do you have any fun bee facts to share? Or personal experiences of encountering the truth behind our favorite expressions?

  1. me & my boyfriend were out doing some gardening and yard work yesterday afternoon and noticed sweat bees, honey bees, and a couple of bumble bees. it was so nice to see them again. they were out in full force. it was really cute, the bumble bee was hovering in front of my face like he was looking at me, i'm not scared so i said "hello little bee" and then he flew off. :)
