James, James, James

Today's Photo: "Bright"

Dear, dear James. A regularly overlooked biblical book of the New Testament.

This week, James just happens to make an appearance as the second lesson for the coming Sunday morning worship service.

I was reading a few translations of it this morning. Check out this wisdom; it’s slicing me right in the heart! Whoa!

“Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other…Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion…is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.”
– Adapted sections of James 1:17-27

James knows what he’s talking about. That’s for sure.

Real religion. That’s what I’ll be thinking about today.
And hot air. I'll also be thinking about hot air.
