Nature Girl

NG2

Nature is my new favorite part of life.
I think about the woods all the time,
and I'm getting better and better at identifying trees.
I dream about birds.
I love to take close-up photos of ferns.
I spend my free time reading a truly amazing book titled: "Minnesota Trees."
I'm not sure what has come over me the last few weeks,
but I love it! I'm finally becoming a genuine NATURE GIRL,
just as I had always hoped to become.

This evening I went hiking around again.
I saw a deer, a Baltimore Oriole, and a Scarlet Tanager!

And then, as I was heading back to my car, I had the best surprise of all.

A man on a motorized scooter stopped me and said:
"Hi, I'm Bill. I use a wheelchair, so I'm obviously harmless and safe.
Would you like to come and feed the geese with me?"

I said, "Of course!"

My 75-year-old friend and I had a fun time chatting about life, faith, and birds.
He said, "People could learn a lot from geese."
I suppose he's right! My mom loves geese, too.
I'm starting to understand what all the fuss is about.

It isn't every day you get to feed corn to the geese.
Bill has been visiting the geese twice a day for the last few weeks.
They loved him, but were cautious of me. It was really neat!
