I came across this assignment in the book "Life is a Verb" by Patti Digh.
Today, for one hour, imagine that you can only do one thing at a time. If you are drinking coffee, you can't check email. If you are talking to your neighbor, you can't be folding laundry. If you are walking to get your mail, you can't be talking on your cell phone. If you are eating, you can't be reading. One. Thing. At. A. Time. Try it.
I'm going to try this assignment for an hour later tonight. Would you like to join me? The ridiculousness of my multitasking obsession was made evident to me earlier today when I was trying to figure out how I could do my walking exercise DVD while simultaneously practicing the sermon for tomorrow and cleaning my house. lol. Silly Emily.
Time. To. Slow. Down.

Great advice to slow down--I'm a multitasker, too.
ReplyDeleteHow timely for the upcoming Advent season, Em! I will try to do this during the week and will let you know how it goes!
