An angel or something like it.

Today's Photo: "The Great Escape"

Today I met a man. He might be an angel. He might be Jesus. I'm not sure. There is a verse in the Bible (the book of Hebrews 13:1-2) that states, "Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it." So, I guess we never really know for sure whether the people in our midst are angels or not.

The congregation I am serving has a wonderful ministry referred to as the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. It is a pool of money created to help people in need that stop by the church: especially with bills, a place to stay, food, etc. It is an amazing resource, and I am so thankful that the congregation supports it.

The man I met today has been on a heavy journey. I won't go into the details.

What I will say is that spending just a bit of time with him reminded me of many truths I regularly forget: to have a thankful, cheerful heart. To share joy. To be compassionate and gracious. To never forget God's nearness. To stop worrying. To read the Bible. To be kind to strangers. To believe. To keep believing. To try. To smile.

That's a lot of life lessons; and I was only with him for 30 minutes.

Yes, I think he was definitely an angel.
