30 Days Inspired: Day 27

Day 27: To my mother: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! To my father and step-father: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! I hope all fathers are having a wonderful Sunday. And I hope my magnificent mother is having a truly tremendous day of celebration and gratitude.

For my activity today, I visited a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Hyde Park. I've always wanted to attend a service at a UU church, and this was my first experience. I really, really, really liked it. It was a highly-affirming, inclusive environment. The congregation was very welcoming and provided all sorts of information about what the Unitarian Universalist church is all about. They don't have any creeds, but we did say a particular affirmation in unison that I really liked:

Love is the spirit of this church
And service is its law
This is our great covenant:
To dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love,
And to help one another.

And here are some random pictures I took this afternoon - It's a cloudy but pleasant day in Chicago. And the week ahead is sure to be exciting! The final day of '30 Days Inspired' just happens to be on Wednesday which is the date of my interview in Minnesota; how fun and random.
