30 Days Inspired: Day 22

Day 22
: It is a chilly, semi-icky day in Chicago. But summer is just around the corner. For today's 'inspired' activity, I figured out how to use my digital voice recorder, wrote a song, and figured out how to embed an MP3 file into a blog post. I'm not great at any of these tasks yet, but I'm determined to keep working at it.

A few weeks ago I decided I was going to read all the way through the Bible (I have since gotten a little off-track, but hope to re-track starting tonight). I was so haunted by the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It is such a interesting story of temptation that we can all relate to in some way! The song I wrote today is based on the story of Adam and Eve and their encounter with the serpent, but it's also just a song about the temptations we all face every day.

Here are the lyrics to "Temptation":

As is often the case with matter like this,
it started out so innocent.
Like a slithering snake upon my shoulder,
you whispered words so sweet
I savored every one.

Chorus:
The safety net is gone,
and I found my way into this cabinet of bottles.
And I hate the taste of poison,
but that apple looks so sweet upon your lips.

The repercussions are never clear
at the beginning.
Not til were covered in the garments,
of a tailor we don't understand.
You looked right through me,
A master of disguise.
Preying upon these hands,
with scars that never lie.

The safety net is gone,
and I found my way into this cabinet of bottles.
And I hate the taste of poison,
but that apple looks so sweet upon your lips.

The safety net is gone,
and I found my way into this cabinet of bottles.
And I hate the taste of poison,
but that apple looks so sweet upon your lips.

And here's the song (hopefully it works):
