A Bright Idea

(taken this afternoon in the hallway of my building)

A big congratulations goes out today! To earth! It's Earth Day. Way to go, planet earth: somehow you are still putting up with a whole planet of humans who haven't quite learned how to honor and care for you. And, of course, I am certainly a prime contributor to earth's deterioration.

It's quite a sad case, friends. Earth is in a major pickle; and at the moment, all the trendy 'green' programming and gadgets and magazine articles are not getting to the heart of the issue. Water quality, water availability, landfills overflowing with our castaways, over-consumption, deforestation, animal extinction. The list of contemporary environmental issues would overflow all the blogs in existence. I won't focus on that today.

I'll just briefly share my percolating thoughts: Earth really shouldn't have to 'put-up' with humans. We should be a team. And we aren't a team right now. In fact, humans have a tendancy to treat earth like its our mortal enemy. A major shift in thinking is required if earth's status is to improve. And there's no better day than today to challenge ourselves to eat, breathe, think, and speak in ways that affirm our planetary team captain: Earth.

  1. Mmm... I think I adore you!! It isn't about those trendy green things at all. I'm glad you said that.

Is it okay that I still don't like bugs though??
