Highlights from Sparta: FAST

This week's column is about "Ordinary Time." Here's a link: Find the extraordinary in the ordinary

My mom and I spent last weekend having adventures in Sparta, Wisconsin. It's only 90 minutes from Rochester. What a fun place! I'll be sharing some highlights in the coming days.

First stop: one of the most awesome, strange places I've ever seen. F.A.S.T. Corp. F.A.S.T. stands for Fiberglass Animals Shapes and Trademarks. One the grounds of FAST are hundreds and hundreds of used fiberglass molds. It's like a fiberglass mold graveyard.

I read about it on Roadside America. After watching this video, I just knew it was going to be great!

The molds are used to make amusement park rides, water park rides, and various kinds of large, decorative creatures for businesses.
