If you have ever had the hankering to step back in time, this is the place to be! Forestville was once a populated town with a general store and a post office. After the railroad came, the tiny town struggled to survive very far into the 1900s. Amazingly, many precious hallmarks of Forestville still exist today.
To get there, you travel to the Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. First, you park your car. Then, you walk across the Carnegie Steel Bridge.

While we were there on Thursday, we ran into Post-Bulletin writer Kay Fate. She wrote a great piece about her experience there on the 4th. Be sure to read it!
There were many people dressed up in traditional garb as well as a band. During a special afternoon ceremony, attendees who were interested got to come up and sing in the town choir! I did! It was really fun. And in all honesty, I believe it was perhaps the most patriotic I've ever felt.
Be sure to add this to your 4th of July bucket list; it's an experience not to be missed!
A simpler time! Added to the bucket list. Even had couple people there recently back from Alaska.
