Weekend Highlights

I had a wedding rehearsal Friday and wedding Saturday. Such a neat couple with a really great family. After the service at church, a good friend came over to me. She's also a member of the congregation. She said, "How neat! What a blessing that you get to be part of the special day of all these couples." Amen to that. She's exactly right. It is a blessing. The reception was wonderful, too. It's always fun to connect with strangers. They start out as strangers and by the end of the dinner, they're friends. Amazing how that works!

I exercised Saturday! Yahoo! I love to exercise, but all that platelet drama got me a little off-track these last few months. The daily medication is working great.  My platelet count was 155,000 on Friday!  But the medicine has left me permanently nauseated.  And my stomach hurts and gurgles a lot.  And I have insomnia. My doctor said this sometimes happens. Yikes. But at least the medicine is working.  So as a way to increase my appetite and start sleeping better, I'm hoping to exercise a bit every day. I took a long walk/jog on Saturday and that felt great. Hopefully I can sleep better tonight.

I discovered my favorite animal is on the cover of my favorite Trader Joe's dark chocolate bar! A squirrel! I adore this kind of chocolate but had never noticed the squirrel until yesterday. Cute. Cute. Cute. Lately I even let myself have chocolate for breakfast when it sounds good.

  1. Yay for the platelets, boo for the nausea and insomnia! Of course you should have chocolate for breakfast when it sounds good. Antioxidants, Em. Antioxidants.

  2. Wow... not only do you enjoy Lawrence Welk, but your favorite animal is a squirrel. They are tied with cats and chipmunks (yes, I do realize there is a certain predator-prey conflict there) for first place in my own affections! Now I think we really need to meet...

Sending prayers your way for better tolerance of the medication (or for whatever will help you feel better while getting the platelet issue under control).
