It was the best of times...

A few things happened Saturday.

*I practiced today's sermon many times.
*I finished up next week's newspaper column.
*I moved some tables and chairs in preparation for Sunday School.
*I picked tomatoes with my friend.
*I waited for the Charter telecommunications helper to come and fix my Internet
*And then - the real excitement of the day.....I got MAIL! It wasn't just any mail. It was a surprise package! I almost hurled with excitement! (I love love love love love surprise packages!!!!!!) :) :) :) :) :)

My amazing cousin Kim sent me a package. Kim is the beautiful lady pictured below. The purple dino is the team mascot of the Rockies. The adorable kid is Kim's son. He is fun and brilliant and hilarious.

"What was in the package?" you ask. Thanks for asking. I'd love to share.

HEAVEN! Heaven was in the box! It was a box of vintage dresses!!!!!!!!!!! Be still my fashion-loving heart. I am still in a state of shock and delight. A record player, a box of records, and a box of vintage dresses entered my life in the same week!

I am just steps away from being swept right into the set of Mad Men!

I was going to show you all the dresses up close and personal, but then I thought, "Wait a minute! I could spread this excitement out over the next several weeks!" So I'll show a dress once a week for the "Diaries of a Pastoral Fashionista" posts.

I am trying to figure out an errand I can run that would allow for me to wear a vintage dress because I know I won't be able to wear one for this afternoon's church golf tournament.

Hmmmmmm. I do need to get some gas. It's a plan!
Vintage dresses are totally appropriate at gas stations!

  2. Amazing! I got a surprise package this weekend, too! But it was an adorable fleece hoodie for my daughter, not fabulous clothes for me. Still great, though. Yay for happy surprises and pumping gas in style.
