People Are Interesting: Robyn

Day after day, I am amazed by the wonders of technology and specifically, the Internet! It has been such a joy to get to know so many wonderful people through blogs and twitter feeds. Today's interesting person is the talented, inspiring, beautiful creator of the Girl on Raw blog, Robyn! Here are a few delightful pictures to introduce you to this lovely lady. Thanks for a terrific interview and thought-provoking answers, Robyn!

Hello, my name is Robyn and I am 32. I am Australian but based in Saudi Arabia for work, where I am contracted as a corporate flight attendant and am also studying Clinical Nutrition specialising in Vegetarian and Vegan diets specifically.

Where do you feel most comfortable?

Usually in my own home (or my parents) with all my loved ones around including the furry family.

I’ve always been a huge animal lover. More specifically, my favourite room in the house is my kitchen.

Describe your average day in one word.

Who are the people who most inspire you?

My family especially my mum, who at 52 has turned her health around so much that she is fitter now than she was at 30. Every month (with the encouragement of my very active father) she tries something new. She has learnt how to surf, 600km bike ride over in 9 days with 1 rest day, indoor rock climbing, abseiling, and I think her next conquest is the Kokoda challenge which is a 96km march which needs to be completed in 39 hours (she did it last year too!) My mum comes from a very high genetic risk of diabetes (and my dad is a celiac – so I have NO HOPE ;) ) so she had to make some drastic changes to her health to reduce her chances of developing diabetes and needless to say her doctor (and kids!) are impressed with her achievements over the last year!

What do you love about your work?

I love that no 2 days are ever the same. I have to think on my feet a lot of the time and as I am the only flight attendant onboard, I have full control over how my day onboard the aircraft will run, from menu planning to cabin setup. Also I get to visit some countries I may not have had the opportunity to ever see.

What is your most beloved hobby?

I love love love making food for my loved ones. It is my way of showing how much I care. And I don’t mind making it for myself either ;)

What are you reading?

I have a very bad habit of buying loads of books but never reading them, or rarely finishing them, but am hoping that will change soon. Right now I have started The Kind Diet, by Alicia Silverstone.

What is the best advice you've ever received?
If you are struggling to make an important decision, then sleep on it. Chances are that whilst you are sleeping, your subconscious will work on it for you, so when you awake you

will most likely have the answer. If not, just keep sleeping on it til you do!

What movie or television show do you think everyone should be required to watch? HOME (it is free on Youtube and Google Video here) It is free so that EVERYONE world over should have access it to it. A must see!
