Integrity?

"But as for me, I walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
My foot stands on level ground;
in the great congregation I will bless the Lord."
Psalm 26:11-12

Integrity. Today, I have really found myself longing to be a person of integrity.
What does that look like lived out? Who are the most integrity-filled people I know?

The 3 dictionary definitions are as follows:
1. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
2. the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished: to preserve the integrity of the empire.
3. a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition: the integrity of a ship's hull.

The Psalmist says: "My foot stands on level ground." I like the sound of that, but how do I stand on level ground when the world around me feels so uneven?

I keep wondering what on earth the Psalmist meant? Did He/She mean literally: level ground? Or metaphorically? Perhaps meaning "God" is the Provider of level ground?

I had a friend I used to work with at the library. He was always Mr. Integrity/Mr. Level Ground. And he made it seem effortless, like it was always so easy to do the right thing and make all the right decisions. But I bet it was a lot harder for him that it seemed. He never blabbed on and on about his faith, but it was clear that he and his family placed their roots in the love of their Creator. God was his level ground. And I think he reminded himself of that regularly.

I pray for level footing today. And a heart that more and more understands what it means to be a person of integrity.
