30 Days Inspired: Day 7

Day 7: Splatters of magical raindrops are bouncing around outside, and I think this storm is washing away all but the beautiful. June is my favorite month of the year, and I am eccstatic that today it begins. The weather is sticky and wet; exactly as it should be in these pre-summer days.

Today concludes the first full week of my "30 Days Inspired" adventure. I am being transformed by this exercise each and every day. While my adventures have been low-maintenance and low-cost, each day has brought with it surprises, laughter, and moments of genuine inspiration. I look forward to the weeks ahead, and I hope you are also encountering inspiration and beauty throughout your days and nights.

After finishing with my tutoring sessions today, I quickly rushed home to change clothes, grab my camera, and set out for an afternoon walk of inspiration. I am finding that even on days when I have no specific plan for 'how to be inspired,' I am filled with thankfulness and excitement about the opportunity to just explore a world I am generally too self-consumed and busy to acknowledge.

The clouds of the thunderstorm were just beginning to reveal themselves as I stepped outside. Normally, I would have turned right back around and stayed inside, but instead I decided to walk just a bit more and experience the storm rolling itself in to the neighborhood. Until today, I never understood why people like to watch the rain. It's beautiful and powerful, exciting and meditative: all at once. I heard the grumbling of the clouds above in a way I hadn't ever heard those sounds before.

Savoring the moments of this quickly-passing storm revealed to me that being inspired doesn't require a specific action plan or a huge budget. And opportunities for inspiration can fill a lifetime - not just 30 days. There is beauty in all things;sometimes in big doses and sometimes in small. Regardless, we just have to release ourselves to the multitude of grace-filled sprinkles falling down all around us.
