for the love of friends.

People are such strange creatures. One one hand, we are so individually complex and unpredictable; on the other hand, we are all basically the same. And we all benefit so indescribably much from friendship! I am floored by this reality on a regular basis. Friends are pivotal to making meaning out of this bizarro thing called life. Sometimes these friendships are with pals, or spouses, or partners, or family. I don't think it really matters who; it just matters that these relationships are cultivated and honored for their priceless worth. I have been very reminded of this reality over the last 48 hours. I am thanking the Creator and the all forces of the universe for all friendships.

Joanna, Lyndsay and I went to the Griffin House concert. Guess what? Griffin House is the guy's name; not the band's name. Good to know. It was lots of fun. I love being around people who are bursting with an honest zest for life and covered with the most beautiful humility. Mostly, I love spending time with people who are incredibly amazing but generally unaware of the fact. The world needs lots more people of this nature.

Here are some pics:

And here is my Creative Everyday 2009 project for today. I saw someone else who draws on old books, so I decided to try it out. I found an old dictionary at the library that I bought for a quarter and now I create upon it. Today's doodle is called, "Feelings are Strange." At 3:30pm, I was feeling a little sad and confused and overwhelmed by life (it is an odd time of transition as I wait for a first pastoral call and start to wrap up my life in Chicago). And then, by 4:30pm, I was smiling and laughing with a friend over the phone! It is unique how feelings work that way.
