Fantastic Friday: 'Check it Out' List

Blog-spiration: http://abbeyofthearts.com/blog/
(I really enjoy the blog, but the regular abbeyofthearts.com site if really fantastic, too)

Listen Up: John Legend

Podcast it Please: "Books on the Nightstand" - I think I've recommended this before, but it's a great podcast for people interested in books. A man and woman who work in the publishing industry give tips and advice and recommendations related to books. It's great and they are funny, too.

Take a Look in a Book: "The Places that Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times" by Pema Chodron. I just started this a few days ago after hearing about it during some random interview. So far, it's fantastic.

Movie/TV Worth Watching: During break, I am planning to watch "The Mission." We watched a bit of it during a class this week, and it looks depressing but very good. And I have two exercise DVD's to recommend:

Tony Horton's "10 Minute Trainer" - it's actually six different 10-minute workouts. And they actually leave you a bit sore the next day.

And Leslie Sansone's "Walk at Home" 3 mile. You can walk 1, 2, or 3 miles with this DVD. She's a bit over-the-top in her perkiness, but I like it and it's something you can squeeze into your day pretty easily.

And my Creative Everyday project today was to complete 2 more pages of the "Quoted: 2009" book of quotes. They are both quotes I heard this week. I mentioned Dee Battaglia's quote in my entry yesterday: "When one person cares, it spreads." And the other quote is from my classmate Kim from a sermon she preached on Tuesday in preaching class. It was about her belief that God definitely promises to be with us each step of every moment of our lives, but that God does not have every detail of every moment of our lives mapped out. I found it very theologically and emotionally refreshing. She used a passage from Jeremiah (check out Jeremiah 29:11) as her text and ended the sermon with some powerful words: "With a promise like that, who needs a plan?"

  1. Wow, thank you! We're honored by your review of Books on the Nightstand. Thank you so much. (And I have not read much Pema Chodron, but what I have read I have loved.I think it might be time to pick up more).

    Best,
    Ann

  2. Thank you for mentioning our Ten Minute Trainer program.. I happen to agree with you - the program is solid and just fits. It's my favorite (even if P90X gets all the attention)

The reason for posting here though is I want to get blog leaders like you to the Beachbody WOWY Gym (www.wowy.com) to break the record of 522 people working out at the same time, Saturday March 7th at 11AM ET/8AM PT. Even if it's to do one ten minute routine -- we want to show a movement of people getting results, right at home!

It would be great if you can make it and bring some people with you!
