Kingdom Stories

Today

Good Sunday morning to you.
This morning's gospel lesson is Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52.

I like these two verses a lot: The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it (verses 45 and 46).

I love that the kingdom of heaven isn't just some far-away place we get to after we die. The kingdom of heaven breaks into our everyday lives all the time. Whenever God's power and presence are experienced, the kingdom of heaven is near. What have been your "kingdom of heaven" moments in the past week?

Mine:
-Gardening at the church garden
-Praying a dinner prayer with a friend
-Observing kindness
-Getting a call on my cellphone while I was at TJ Maxx while searching for the perfect outfit to wear to a baseball game. It was my nurse Linda. The first thing she said was, "Emily, I have some great news! And I think it might be the power of prayer! You're up to 44,000 today!" Linda mentioned that when she told Dr. Hook, he said, "Wow, her good luck sure continues." (PS: I had blood tests every 2 days last week, and by the end of the week, the count was back up to 44,000 without a treatment!)
-Waking up excited to preach this morning!
