Hope
Hi there. Yesterday the audio didn't work on that song I posted, so I'm reposting it now as a separate entry under this one. I would love to hear your thoughts; listen if you get a moment. If you still can't hear it or if the volume is really wack-a-doodle - let me know.
My goodness - there is sure a lot happening in the world, huh? Do you like to stay up-to-date on national and international news? Today at a meeting, I heard a speaker from Sudan who came to the United States as a refugee in 2000. He's not that much older than me and he's already lived about 8 lifetimes in the course of his one, young life. It was very eye-opening to hear him share; it reminded me of the beauty of hearing people's stories.
The world is so huge. And yet, at the core, most humans want the same things, right? A peaceful, safe place to live in community with friends and family. Moments of beauty and laughter each day. Nutritious food and clean water.
As you watch the news and read the paper, what are you left thinking about? Sometimes I hear people say things like, "Look what the world is coming to; everything is so terrible. The end must be coming." Or, "There's always going to be war." Or, "Things will never get better." I think there is hope yet to be uncovered. Do you see glimmers of hope amidst all that's happening in the United States and around the world? If so, what and where?

I've found myself avoiding the news lately. I know that's a cliche and TOTALLY escapist, but I just can't do it. And maybe it's because I can't escape it in my real life too.
ReplyDeleteYour picture reminded me that as I was driving to work I saw someone open their car door and drop a can on the ground. It totally ruined my day and put me in a foul mood. How can I have hope when I see that?
Ugh, sorry for the Debbie Downer comment. Finding hope is a growing edge for me since I'm more predisposed to pessimism...
