Weekly Wrap-Up

I spent the last two days at an annual event called the "Synod Assembly." In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (that's the denomination I serve within), there are a bunch of synods around the country. All the synods have an annual meeting called a "Synod Assembly."

Representatives of all the congregations as well as pastors come together. Speakers, worship, voting on various topics. All-in-all, it was a pleasant experience. I've now been a lady pastor for about 10 months, and it has been super.fantastic.terrific.wonderful to get to know my colleagues. They are "the bomb" (sorry about that, just had to include one of my least favorite yet most favorite slang usages). And I also had some delightful conversations with strangers over the weekend; bonus!

Guess what? The time has come for me to start another Brand New Life. This time, the focus is exercise. I've been a bit of a lazy daisy lately in the exercise department. I wake up early and go to work and come home late and then I don't feel like working out. But, ENOUGH WITH THE EXCUSES, EMILY! FIND A WAY!

I walk a few times a week, but I don't walk very strenuously. This is a problem because there's just a bit too much junk collecting in my trunk, and I'd like to put a stop to that before the blessed summer season. So...

30 minutes of heart-pumped cardio every day. No excuses. That's my plan. If you'd like to join this challenge, PLEASE post a comment. We can support each other!

Song of the week: "As Long as I Live" by Catherine Russell (Download one of the mid-April episodes of Fresh Air to hear a terrific interview with this fabulous jazz musician)

Blog of the week: House on Hill Road
