30 Day Inspired: Day 29

Day 29: It is hot, hot, hot in Chicago! And, truth be told, I love it quite a bit. Because I am an avid "Winter Complainer," I am trying to avoid complaining too much about the humidity and bubbling temperatures of June, July, and August. I have the strange belief that all people have the inherent right to be single-season complainers. Choose a season and complain about it to your heart's content. But then, during the other 3 seasons, at least to pretend to be happy. However, I confess, I did end up doing a little internal complaining this morning when I was already sweaty just a few steps out of the shower.

Today was a wonderful day of inspiration and conversation. Tomorrow evening I will have my first interview with a congregation! Eeeek! I am highly excited. And I am also at least moderately stunned by the reality of it all. These years of seminary went by SO QUICKLY! WOW! I am so so so so so so so so thankful for this neighborhood and city - and these amazing people. Life is very surprising: and often, very beautiful.

This morning I did some silk scarf painting with a seminary pal. It was a true delight! She's got some wonderful supplies and paints. And it was an extra special bonus to have a few hours to just "be" and relax in a creative environment. Then I met with one of my learning partners this afternoon. We had a good session - read a Robert Frost poem - and ate a bit too much Turkish Delight. Then I enjoyed a tasty dinner with some friends this evening.

This afternoon I did some interview preparations in the sunshine. Here are a few pictures. I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday and soaking up some Vitamin D if its available!

  1. as always, lovely pics!! i have a friend that seems to complain no matter what the temperature so i think i'll tell her about your rule :) i don't do well in the heat but have somehow managed to keep the apartment air conditioned free so far these hot days (it includes a fan directly on me but still lol). i do think it's horrible to step out of the shower and feel like you need to immediately get back in, that's the worst.

good luck on your interview. i know you will do great!!
