A warming heart on a snowy evening.

A silly sleet blob who landed on my porch just moments ago.

Even though I feel like I am constantly having experiences that remind me how fantastic human beings and friendships are, I also feel like I am constantly forgetting that reality! Everytime I have another life-giving 'people' encounter, I feel this overwhelming combination of feelings of gratitude and feelings of regret. Gratitude that life contains the possibility of friendship, and regret that I so often complain about the stupid parts of life and forget to absorb all the wonder around me. Know what I mean?

Today was a heart warming today. I got to spend some time with two of the coolest gals in Chicago. They taught me about life and salads (see food blog). Then I went to yoga with a great pal; we hadn't ever taken a yoga class at this particular studio, and it was a nice change of pace from the extremely bizarro and fantastic hot yoga classes we usually go to at Core Power.

So now it's Holy Week. Happy Palm Sunday. Is it appropriate to wish people a 'Happy Holy Week'? I'm not sure. Maybe instead, I will wish you all a week filled with wisdom, wonder, and gratitude. May our weeks be filled with holy mysteries, regardless of our religious affiliations. If there's one thing I'm certain of, it's the fact that mystery and grace are absolutely available to us all.

  1. It is so easy to forget the good parts of life when the bad ones always seem to take over - its good that people can realise this though and start focusing on the positives :) Lovely blog too!!

  2. I wanted to comment on your food blog, but I couldn't sign up for some reason...

anyway...one option for your flax seeds...put them on those delicious salads :) We've done that before.

Also, we really liked Omnivore's Dilemma. It made think more about what we eat. Wish I had caught Pollan on NPR.

Happy Holy Week to you :)
