thank you, robert burns.

greetings friends.

Happy Sunday. Also, happy 'Robert Burns' day. He was born on January 25, 1759. He was a Scottish poet who lived until 1796. Some of his most famous works are: Tam o'Shanter, To a Louse, and Auld Lang Syne. Last night I went to a fun gathering in celebration of Robert Burns. We ate haggis and other delicious foods. And, I enjoyed my second EVER glass of scotch (it only took 4.5 hours). I felt it was a real accomplishment. Wow, that stuff is strong.

In honor of Mr. Burns, I will post one of my favorite poems he wrote. Sometimes all the theology and seminary mumbo-jumbo makes me forget how much I loved being an English major. Today, I miss it a lot. So after yoga, I'm going to sit down with my Norton Anthology of British Literature and read for awhile, reminiscing about the 'good old days' of literature classes and amazing novels and classmates. Love you, Kristin.

My Love is Like a Red Red Rose (yes, I know, of course I'd pick this one, right?)

0, my love is like a red, red rose,
that's newly sprung in June.
0, my love is like a melody,
that's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair thou art, my bonnie lass,
so deep in love am I,
And I will love thee still, my dear,
till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
and the rocks melt wi' the sun!
And I will love thee still, my dear,
while the sands of life shall run.

And fare the weel, my only love!
And fare the well awhile!
And I will come again, my love.
Tho it were ten thousand mile!

In other news, here's a cool blog:

And a poem/whatever it would be called for my Creative Everyday 2009 project for today:

"Known"
Exposing such fragility
we all travel each day,
infinitely complex beings
of fears, hopes, and histories.
To share, to experience: it is always a risk.
Perhaps it is our deepest of longings
even when it is buried and denied,
to be known.
To be seen and heard completely.
Glimpses now and then
of these holy encounters,
provide life-giving water.
And God said, "behold."

And, to conclude: Jake A. and Lindsey K. - hope you both had amazing birthdays yesterday. Thanks for being great friends.
