  1. Unfortunately, the Three Gorges Damn is all but completed and the devastation has been wrought.

    Jonathan Franzen has a very interesting article about the environmental degradation of China. Franzen is a fine novelist, and he brings that same comedic sense of humanity to his journalistic writing. Damned if I can think of the title of the essay, but I'm certain that JKM has access via EBSCO (I'm a librarian to the end, can you tell?)
