Acceptance

Did you watch season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? It's my favorite sitcome and my fourth favorite show ever...

1. Breaking Bad
2. House of Cards
3. Prison Break
4. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

I thought season 2 was even better than season 1. The writers explore some deep themes related to Kimmy's childhood and time in the bunker (she plays a 29-year-old woman who spent 15 years underground after being kidnapped by a religious lunatic).

I like Kimmy's character a lot. She's perpetually optimistic but she also has some grit. And she's seen a lot in her life.

*SPOILER ALERT*

In the season finale, she is reunited with her mom.

As the episode concludes, Kimmy has a huge realization. She recognizes that nothing that she says to her mom can change the past - it can't change her childhood, it can't change that she was kidnapped, it can't change that she spent 15 years underground.

So she says: "And I just have to accept that."

I thought it was a really profound moment - and a reality that we all face. We can't change the past. We can only keep living forward...finding ways to make peace with even the darkest chapters.

Way to go, Kimmy! High fives all around!
(Kimmy loves high fives!)
