One week ago, I woke up with a sore throat.
"Oh dear," I thought.
Oh dear dear dear.
I tried to trick it. I tried to hold it at bay. I tried to cover it up.
But in the end, I got the cold.
It isn't quite "gone" yet.
Soon, though. Very soon.
Here are five things that have helped along the way.
They aren't true remedies. They didn't make the cold go away completely.
They aren't true remedies. They didn't make the cold go away completely.
But they helped.
#1: Essential oils! Especially eucalyptus, peppermint, lemongrass, and clary sage.
I got really into essential oils when I was trying to cure myself of my blood disease,
so I still have the full set from that endeavor. There are all kinds of ways to use them.
To help me breathe when my nosed was plugged, I dropped a few drops of peppermint into a hot bath. You can also place a few drops on a hot compress or in your humidifier.

#2: Citrus.
I'm not sure if it helps much once you already have the cold.
But it still felt like I was doing something good for my body,
so I ate a lot of oranges and clementines this past week.
#3: Herbal tea!
I read the black teas are acidic, and shouldn't be overused when sick.
But herbal teas are a-okay.
So stock up on your caffeine-free, herbal teas.
I love to sip on them all day.
#4: There's no evidence that maraschino cherries get rid of colds.
But I tell you what, they sure will put a smile on your face.
Put one in a glass of orange juice.
Eat one on top of your yogurt.
Whatever you please.
Whatever you please.
Keep some around.

#5: Raw honey!
My friend, Buck, is a bee-keeper.
And he is my honey supplier.
I actually do think this may have cut a few days off this cold/virus/whatever it is.
I have a spoonful before bed every night.
Good stuff.

So those are my tips!
How about you?
What do you do when you get a cold?
