A Happy Heart (literally)

Thank you for your prayers for Jill.

She is my hero. What a lady!
It's 9:33pm on Monday night, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude:
to God, to Jill, to her family and friends,
to the many people praying around the world, and to her doctors and nurses.
It has been amazing to see the Holy Spirit so totally at work
in this circumstance. Astonishing.

Thank you, God. Thank you, God. Thank you, God.

Jill is no longer on a machine to provide her heart and lung functions!
Her heart and new lungs are working on their own!
The internal bleeding has stopped!
It's truly, 100% amazing!

And feeling the squeeze from Jill's hand yesterday was incredible beyond description.

Here is a blessing for Jill and all those
journeying through illness and recovery....
from John O'Donohue's "To Bless the Space Between Us"

May you find in yourself
A courageous hospitality
Toward what is difficult,
painful, and unknown.

May you learn to use this illness
As a lantern to illuminate
The new qualities that will emerge in you.

May you keep faith with your body,
Learning to see it as a holy sanctuary
Which can bring this wound gradually
Toward the healing and freedom of dawn.

May you be granted the courage and vision
To see the beauty you can harvest
from the riches of this dark invitation.
