Advent in Your Everyday: Day #2

“Be still and know that I am God” – God (in Psalm 46:10)

It’s the second day of Advent. My goal for Advent 2009 was to find a 5-minute silent space each day to be still. Stillness and quiet are good themes for the weeks preceding Christmas; a time in which we are bombarded with messages telling us to be anything other than still and quiet . My "intentional quiet time" remains a goal as yet to be fulfilled because as of 11:54am on Monday, I have not yet had an Advent season 5-minute silent space. Once the day gets going, it sure is a challenge to find stillness, isn’t it?

So, here’s my plan. I just need to make a commitment to this! 5 minutes of silence every day from 6:55-7:00am. If you’d like to join me, please do. 5 minutes of total stillness. No reading. No watching television. No listening to music. No writing in a journal. No napping. Just a little space to be free and still. And know that God is God (and also, some space to know that it's okay to be unclear about what exactly that even means).
